Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ:SOLF) - The violent reversal from its 200-day moving average leads the way to a retest of $8.27 support. If the stock can hold above this area we could assist to a rebound for a retest of today's highs and a possible breakout to the upside.

LDK Solar Co., Ltd. (NYSE:LDK), retested the 50-day mving average and failed to close over that level. We should see a potential upside if the stock manages to close over the 50-day mving average. Support continues to be located at $10.74 and any close below that level could signal further declines.

GT Solar International, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOLR) has had a nice run over the past days. At this stage, we can see that SOLR is now testing its line resistance at $8.27. A break of this resistance level could see the stock testing its next horizontal resistance line located at $8.78. Technical indicators are bullish as MACD momentum and histograms trend higher and RSI is above 50 level.

Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) had a huge breakout day on Tuesday and closed above its 200-day moving average. The breakout was on heavy volume. The next key resistance levels are located at $34.94 and $36.14. There looks to be good upside potential, so watch the stock very closely on Wednesday. Shareholders may remain invested with a stop- loss at $33.28.

Stock Picks for Tuesday August 10

I have been following SOLF for while and over the last weeks I never seen so many buyers purchasing the stock. The volume over the recent days has dramatically increased. There are some days when the normal average volume is reached in the first hours of trading, which mean someone is accumulating a huge amount of shares for the coming months. The technical indicator OBV shows exactly this situation. With Oil moving up again above $80, the appetite to buy solar stocks will be on the priorities of many fund managers again,.....it's my guess. The stock hit a 52-week high of $12.30 on August 3th, but has pulled back the past few days. SOLF is setting up to make a move back to highs and I will be watching. If oil continues to move higher , we should see SOLF make a move.

CIEN broke out above its 50-day moving average of $13.64 to close at $13.72. Further rally could be seen to retest $14 medium term resistance. As long as the stock stay above $13 area, the short-term bullish scenario is still intact. Technical daily chart shows bullish sign with %K line is on top of %D line and RSI moving up toward 50. Only a close below $13 reverses the current uptrend.

Today, the stock made a new 52-week high of $13.04. I think there is a good chance the stock will make another move on Tuesday. Resistance reflects Monday’s high of $13.04. If the stock can break resistance, there should be opportunity for a good upside trade. The technical chart shows very strong upward momentum as the stock is trading above the 200-day moving average with both 50-day and 200-day moving average going up. At this point I'm buyer only once it breaks through today’s high of $13.04 for the continuation move. Stochastics and the RSI are overbought but remain bullish signaling.

The daily chart of NVDA shows a positive MACD crossover with both histograms and RSI moving up. From a technical perspective, further upside potential remains for the stock in the short term but patience will be required.

Stock Market Alerts for Thursday April 15

FRPT had a big move on Monday and it consolidated on lower volume Tuesday. Looking at the technical chart, the stock is setting up to make a breakout move. I'm a buyer above Monday’s high of $6.54 looking for the next move up.

SOLF broke out today and traded nearly 2x normal daily volume. The stock has the potential to make a big run on Thursday, so keep a close eye on SOLF and don’t miss the trade.

A Penny stock to watch on Thursday :

This stock made another move on today, but unfortunately, it was within the first few minutes of the open. NVLT is waiting for a big break out move and it could occur very soon. I am watching the stock on Thursday again, and looking to buy it above today’s high of $0.279. The stock technical indicators have bullish divergence, which means that bears are losing power. I really like the potential in this trade, so keep a close eye on NVLT.

Other stocks to Watch :

CTDC - I am keeping this stock on the list for a possible move on Thursday. The stock has been strong, which leads me to believe that there is a buyer and we could see another up move soon.

ROYL showed buying strength all day on Wednesday.

Stock Market Alerts for Friday April 09

GIGM closed slightly higher on Thursday, as the stock is trying to break out of a Bull flag. The trading range has a top of $3.24. Once the stock breaks through this resistance level, there should be a strong upside move as this is one of the few stocks yet to make a move. GIGM is an old favorite of traders, which will help the stock move. Watch it on Friday.

The stock managed to hold up pretty well on Thursday above the support. CSIQ has buyers, as it has not wanted to go down. Resistance is $26,26, which was Wednesday’s high of the day. If the stock can break through resistance, the stock should move higher. The tricky part about trading CSIQ is that it rarely runs in a straight line. There are many scalpers in CSIQ, so be prepared for a breakout, pullback and then another upside move.

SOLF - Solarfun Power Holdings shares are making consistent steps upward. Indicators such as RSI and MACD still showing strong confidence and optimism in stock. I think the stock should keep going up.

Stock Market Alerts for Thursday April 08

AIG closed strong on Wednesday as the stock ended the up $3.78, just a few cents off highs. Wednesday’s move could be the start of a bigger move, which is why I will watch the stock price on Thursday. Resistance is $40.30, which was the high of November 2009. Once the price breaks the resistance line with heavy volume, a minimum of $46.70 per share is achievable. AIG will move quickly, so watch the stock closely on Thursday.

After 3 months of consolidating sideways, CSIQ convincingly signaled a break of its immediate resistance with a long white candle and the huge amount of volume traded today as seen in the chart. The next resistance that it should try to respect is at 30.05.

SOLF has broken out of a major resistance line. The upside looks bright !!!! Resistance is now $8.65, which was Wednesday’s high of the day.

Other stocks to watch :

GETA - Genta Incorporated is a penny stock to watch. The stock is catching the attention of market players after the Yesterday news. Resistance is now located at $0.103 but if the stock can push up into the $0.135's, I feel it could retest $0.195 or above. Chart looks bullish. Keep an eye for a possible breakout over $0.103.

Stock Market Alerts for Wednesday April 07

SOLF looks to be setting up for an upside move, as the stock has held up well the past few days. The stock is in the middle of a short-term range and I'm watching for this upside move on Thursday. Resistance is $8.07, which was the high of this past bounce in the stock. From the technical daily chart the stock shows very strong bullish sign. First of all the stock is trading above both 50 day and 200 day moving average. Then the MACD indicator is rising above 0 also indicating a buy. In addition the stochastics oscillator still show the stock is on the positive swing.

DRYS has broken out of the major resistance line, as seen in its stock chart. A sudden increase in its stock value will be highly anticipated. The technical daily chart above shows positive sign as the stock is now above both 50 day and 200 day moving aveage with MACD also back above 0 showing positive sign.

The penny stock of the day is GETA. Genta Incorporated, a biopharmaceutical company focused on cancer research, saw its shares jump more 75% after the FDA granted its request for “Fast Track” designation of tesetaxel for patients with advanced gastric cancer. Currently, the drug is the leading oral taxane in late Phase II clinical trials. The Fast Track designation is designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of new drugs that are intended to treat serious conditions. The designation also typically enables a company to submit a NDA on a “rolling” basis with ongoing FDA review during the submission process, and usually get priority at the time of submission, according to the press release. The stock hit a high of $0.084 on Tuesday, which is resistance for Wednesday’s move.

Beta - It is a measure of a stock's volatility in relation to the market. By definition, the market has a beta of 1.0, and individual stocks are ranked according to how much they deviate from the market. A stock that swings more than the market over time has a beta above 1.0. If a stock moves less than the market, the stock's beta is less than 1.0. High-beta stocks are supposed to be riskier but provide a potential for higher returns; low-beta stocks pose less risk but also lower returns.

Which bank in Europe or Asia will be the next to go bankruptcy ??

It's hard to say but the current reality still telling us to be cautions and away from this sector. The current financial problem may spread into the European and Asia financial system sooner than later. This is an issue extremely complex to understand, but very real to happen, especially when there are banks that have typically assets with long maturities and short-term liabilities and therefore, even healthy banks may face problems in current conditions. In addition, banks in Europe, after many years of a climate of investment too optimistic, took to their balance sheets, toxic assets and not only assets that originate in the U.S. The risk of a potential collapse of banks in Europe is real, and this scenario should not be put aside. There is a risk and that risk under current conditions, is high. Please be aware of this fact, don't look only for US as the problem of the globe, but more problems may appear in Europe and Asia sooner, it will be a matter of time. The global economy has worsen considerably, and with current rates in Europe the recession is spreading in almost all countries. If we look closely for the macro economical indicators of Spain, Italy, France and German, we'll see that most of them are showing clear signs of a strong retraction, what this mean ? Deep problems ahead. Even more when we have the ECB with just one orientation, working to stop the spike of inflation. I'm quite reluctant about Europe, in my opinion is stifling domestic consumption and will further degrading even more other companies that have Europe as the first destination of its products. As usual here are more trade Ideas for tomorrow.

FSLR - Since the stock is still on a clear down trend with MACD below 0 there is no reason for the long player to buy the stock. The stock has strong resistance around $200. If the stock crosses this level and sustains above it, then it might see some buying interest. So for now it is better to wait and see what happen for the next few days before making any decision.

SOLF - The stock has a strong resistance at $12. If the stock crosses this level, then it might go to $12.84. Nearest support is at $9.60. If the stock declines below these levels, then it might witness weakness. The technical chart is showing possible buying opportunity as K line is about to cross on top over D line, wait for the line to be broken before buying the stock.

Stock Picks and Trade Ideas for Wednesday - RMBS, TRN, SOLF, LDK

LDK gapped up off support in early August and continued higher with expanding volume. Look for a break above $50.95 to revive the bull.

SOLF remains in a clear uptrend, but there were four days of high volume selling pressure and this stock is way overextended. After two weeks of consecutive up days sell divergences have emerged. Expect pullback to $17.37.

TRN formed a falling wedge back to the middle of the prior consolidation. If this stock breaks out above $35.32 its very probable that we will see a decent upside move for the bulls.

RMBS - Stock broke resistance at $17 with a big move on a big volume. This is not the first up day on big volume either. For now, expect an initial run up to the early July $18.13 high.

Stock Picks and Trade Ideas for Next week - AMAT, SOLF, ABAT, PMCS

PMCS - The stock dropped more than $1 in the last three days. It looks like investors are getting pretty nervous over how earnings might play out and the recent news from its rivals were so bad that it will not for sure help the sentiment on stock. Looking at the daily chart the stock broke down on yesterday reversing a three-month uptrend. In addition MACD is also weak as MACD and signal line are below and are declining.First support is at $7.06 with stronger support down at $6.58. This stock is pointed south.

ABAT broke out to record highs today on heavy volume confirmation indicating that this breakout is more likely to be real. However at this point we may need to pull back and retest $5.68 to reset the overbought conditions and provide some room to develop a new trend up.

SOLF - The stock is consolidating in a descending triangle pattern, if the shares price breaks down the $18 support level there isn’t any support until around $16 leaving lots of room for this to run for the bears.

AMAT - The pullback below the short-term support level, accompanied by a bearish MACD crossover, suggests that the selling pressure is increasing and the stock might test $19 levels in the short term if it is able to sustain below $19.65.

Hot stocks for next week - COMS, HOLX, SPWR, SOLF, AAPL, RFMD

RFMD - The stock broke consolidation resistance with heavy volume. The technical chart shows buyers are back. With the surge today K line is again on top over D line showing the stock is back to new rally. This is what strong stocks generally do in a rebound : break resistance, hold the breakout and continue higher. A move towards $5 can be expected as long as $4 holds. I would like to see at least a move above $4.28 before betting on a pull back.

AAPL is getting a battle with resistance at $190. The stock has been consildating for weeks now, and may be ready to clear this base. The Technical chart shows positive sign as the stock has been above 200-day moving average since mid April and has formed golden cross earlier May. Golden cross is when 50 day MA cross on top over 200 MA and is a very bullish buy signal.

SOLF breakout !!! The triangle represents a consolidation or rest after an advance. The breakout signals a continuation of the prior advance. Even though I find the breakout bullish, I also find Solar stocks a bit overextended. As long as $21 holds, this breakout is in great shape. A move below $20.80 would question the breakout and further weakness below $20.03 would be outright bearish.

SPWR - The daily chart shows possible new rally as K line has crossed on top over D line while ROC is still at oversold level. However it is better to wait and see if the stock can break above 50 day moving average.

HOLX - Looking very good but the stock might consolidate in short term.

COMS - 3Com Corp is firming just above key support at $2.51 and a triangle has taken shape over the last few weeks. This is a neutral pattern dependent on a break to establish a directional bias. A break below $2.39 would signal a decline and be quite bearish, on the other hans a breakout at $2.60 would be bullish.

Solar stocks shine

SOLF - Great earnings on this stock. Entry point would be on the day it blows through $14.29 on heavy volume.

AKNS - The good news is that the price of Akeena Solar stock crossed above its major moving averages with the relative price strength increasing. When a stock raises above its moving averages it means that it has broken its short-term trend. This is a bullish signal.

LDK has a very interesting daily chart and could have a bigger move soon. Resistance for this move is $29.50. This stock will move quickly and is very volatile, so be careful with your share size and entry price. Optimum buy point is when price crosses the resistance line.

FSLR - Stock is now in a breakout mode and the chart suggests a strong confidence in stock, RSI has space to move up more. Technically, I continue to believe the stock will test the the prior highs of February at $236.
