Trade Ideas for Tuesday, January 11

Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) is breaking out of an ascending triangle pattern with good volume support and found some resistance just below the $6 level. It looks good to continue its upward trend. The bias remains bullish in nearest term. Immediate resistance is now at $5.98. Break above that level could trigger further bullish momentum towards $6.30 area.

In order to stage a bullish trend reversal, Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ:CSIQ) needs to break above the downtrend line. I’m a buyer of CSIQ on a break of the downtrend line.

Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENER) remains in a bullish ascending triangle pattern with major support at the uptrend line and resistance at $5.25, therefore keep an eye on these trendlines this week. If the stock breaks above $5.25, then it could rally up to the $6 level, however if it falls below the uptrend line, then a downtrend will ensue.

Ciena Corporation (NASDAQ:CIEN) has rallied from below $16 to above $24 in just two months, a gain of over 50%. The technical chart shows very strong upward momentum as the stock is trading above the 200 day moving average with both 50 day and 200 day moving average going up. At this point I'm a buyer of CIEN only once it breaks through today’s high of $24.84 for the continuation move. Stochastics and the RSI are overbought but remain bullish signaling.

Stock Picks for Wednesday, January 05

Today marked an important shift in Plug Power shares as they closed above a major horizontal resistance line that has been forming since December. The stock was one of the big winners on Tuesday, closing up $0.068 on the day. Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG) traded heavy volume as it hit a high of $0.48. This high is resistance for Wednesday’s continuation move. Looking at the technical chart I see a stock that cleared a sideway consolidation base. The first target is the last pivot high over $0.569. Keep the stock on your radar for Wednesday’s trading day.

Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) is on the verge of a breakout from an ascending triangle pattern. Watch for a move above $5.70 on a closing basis to confirm a target of $6+.

Stock Picks for Tuesday December 28

Hey Traders ! I hope everyone had a great Christmas day, now its all about planning for the new year.

To start things off, let's take a look at the daily chart of the Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) . The stock is on the verge of a breakout and there's plenty of room for upside. FRPT closed up 14 cents today and looks poised to make another move on Tuesday. From my point of view, there are solid and consistent buyers here. FRPT's chart suggest that increased buy side activity could push share prices to much higher levels. In the past year, the stock has hit a 52-week low of $3.86 and 52-week high of $6.75. The short-term outlook for FRPT remains positive. The MACD also confirms the recent jump and RSI shows that there's more upside to come. The stock could touch an upside target of $6.55 in the short term. Existing holders could remain invested. A close above $5.73 would have positive implications and could push the stock to the 5.92-6.19 range.

A123 Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:AONE) is also on my radar........From a short-term perspective you can see from the daily chart above that the price is now very close to the short-term trendline that's been in place since August. Therefore there is a high probability that the stock will finally break this downtrend line and move up big and fast, particularly as many indicators are moving upwards.

Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) was able to get up through the resistance and sustained the move. The stock hit a high of $20.26, which is resistance for Tuesday’s move. If the stock can break through resistance, we should see a strong follow through move. Watch the stock closely tomorrow.

Stock Picks for Wednesday December 22

Good afternoon everyone! Looks like I'm going to start the day with a technical setup on Affymax, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFFY).

Looking at the technical chart above, we can see a few technical signals suggesting that a swing higher may be in the cards in the short term. I think today's pull back was a good buying opportunity. My first target is $7.55 and the second target is $8.58. Currently the short term chart is bullish and medium-term neutral. Money Flow Index is moving up again and the stock price is currently trading above the major moving averages, which is Bullish. In addition, the stock formed a bullish MACD Crossover signal. Honestly speaking it seems cheap at this level based on fundamentals, the company is debt free and has $4.14 in cash per share. Nevertheless, we have to follow the market direction and not force it. The bullish outlook would be negated on a close below $6.05.

Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) broke out today above a major resistance point. Short-term technical indicators are improving and the MACD on the daily chart recently produced a new buy signal. If the stock can break today’s high of $5.73, we should see a strong follow through move. FRPT will move very quickly, so keep a very close eye on the stock.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) - The major resistance has been broken in this technical chart. The price can move up to $13.52-$13.90 in the short-term. The stock has been doing well recently as %K line is on top of %D line with MACD on top of signal line. Now that the stock is above this horizontal resistance line more buyers should be coming.

Sounds like Banner Corporation (NASDAQ:BANR) is gaining some momentum again. The stock has made a strong bounce off of the lows that were posted earlier in the month with high volume. The technical daily chart shows possible new rally as %K line is back above %D line, while the RSI is also gaining strength. If a proper breakout happens at $1.90 we can see a target of $2.29.

3 Stocks Gaining Momentum

Universal Travel Group (Public, NYSE:UTA) is developing an Inverted Head and Shoulders pattern, which many traders consider a bullish reversal pattern. We need to breakthrough the neckline before this pattern is complete. This could be a big clue as to where direction heads next. I would not be surprised to see the neckline to be broken soon. Looking at the technical daily chart of UTA, I believe that the stock is poised to continue moving upwards. Today's pullback has probably attracted some traders looking for an opportunity to jump into a stock that took a dip. There are several short, mid and long term technical indications suggesting that UTA could make a move to higher levels. Moreover shares of Universal Travel Group are on top of 20 and 50 day moving average and has the chance to bring 50-day moving average above 200-day moving average to bring the stock back to bull market. Next major resistance level is $6.93. So, if you like upward continuation bounce plays, take a close look at UTA.

Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) had a big move today. With this move, the stock closed above the short downtrend line on the daily chart. The technical chart above continue to show a bullish bias. The MACD line is pointing up. RSI is also increasing and +DI is above –DI. Resistance for the follow through move is $5.73. If the stock can break through this area, we should see a strong upside move. Watch FRPT closely on Monday.

Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENER) surged in the final hour of trading on Friday and closed back over $5. The real fireworks should begin if the stock can close above $5.14. As long as the stock can remain above $4.27, I like the stock.

A quick look at the technical chart :

1) Back above the 50-day moving average.
2) RSI is above 50 level.
3) Money Flow-Index is climbing
4) The +DI crossed up through the -DI this week - Bullish.
5) 20-day moving average crossed the 50-day moving average to the upside.
6) 5-day moving average crossed the 20-day moving average to the upside.
6) MACD lines are going up.

I would not be surprised to see this range to be broken soon. However, the stock is still in a long-term downtrend, so it should be considered guilty until proven innocent.

Hot stocks to watch for Wednesday July 14

From a technical perspective, the stock has found a nice support around the $4 level. FRPT is probably back to uptrend and with KD rising we could see possible rally coming for the stock. The short-term targets for the stock are $4.34 and then $4.51. Short-term investors can buy with a stop at $4.17 and long-term investors can hold with a stop at $3.92.

INTC is trading up after hours, as the company released good earnings. I expect INTC to gap open on Wednesday, possibly gapping above the major resistance level. If the stock does gap above or trade through this level, let the stock consolidate before buying. INTC should be a hot stock on Wednesday so watch it closely throughout the day.

THQI has been in a strong downtrend the past few weeks, but could have found a bottom at these levels. Today, the stock was one of the few bright spots, as the stock closed up $.45 on the day. If the stock can break through $4.88, we should see a high volume upside move. Technically the stock now shows positive sign as the stock is now trading above 20 day moving average with KD rising. I will watch the stock closely on Wednesday and buy once it breaks through resistance.

Stocks to watch on June 25

LVS opened strong but closed weak with above average volume. Selling pressure is picking up and a move below $25 would be bearish.

ZION has broken its bullish trend and technical indicators are turning lower again suggesting another leg down.

DELL failed to close above the resistance level of 14. This resulted in a sharp drop today. The recent price patterns suggest that the downward move on Friday could continue. A decline to the 12.36-12.78 range appears likely. A close below $12.36 would impart further weakness and would push the stock to the $11.6-$12 range.

ROYL - Looking at the technical chart, we can see a Doji at the bottom after a steep downtrend. The next two days will confirm if a new uptrend will take place.

FRPT failed to follow-through to the upside after yesterday's rally. Major support is now located at $3.99 while resistance is located at $4.29.

The decline in YGE over the last few days looks like a bull flag is in progress. This is a potentially bullish pattern that requires confirmation with an upside breakout.

Hot stocks to watch on June 24

RTK has been in a range over the past month. The stock traded 2x normal daily volume in the last trading sessions, and is setting up to make a move through resistance. The $1.08 level has been a top for the stock since late May. If RTK can break through this resistance level, the stock should have a nice move on the upside.

FRPT traded up on Wednesday and I am looking for a continuation move today. The stock made a high of $4.29 for the day and closed at $4.27, but I want to let it trade through $4.40, before I buy. The technical indicators are showing a bullish bias and the recent news could help this stock to break through this resistance level now that the company is making Millions in new contracts.

VRX made a new 52 week on Wednesday, hitting $51.75, before closing the day at $51.01. I will watch the stock price today and buying above Wednesday’s high.

Stocks to watch for Wednesday june 16

JASO made a nice move today, but the volume could have been better. From a technical standpoint the stock, the stock crossed and closed above its 200 day MA on the daily chart for the first time since the beginning of the month. MACD has generated a buy signal and KD rising we should see stock now starting to go up again. I still like this stock and will continue to watch it for the next few days. The major resistance lies at $5.25 and if this level is breached than the next target would be $5.55 ( 50 day MA ).

TER has broken out from a major resistance line as it closed today at $11.77 per share. It had taken out its 50-day MA at 11.46 and we may possibly be seeing the price heading towards the 12.28 resistance this week. Over the last 52 weeks the stock has ranged from a low of $5.96 to a high of $13.37.

FRPT has been on a nice up move and looks like it wants to go higher. I like that the stock is consolidating and I expect to see a move soon. Resistance stays at $4.40, which is a big area that the stock needs to break. Watch FRPT again on Wednesday, and once it breaks resistance we should see a strong upside move.

OCNF took off today and I will be watching the stock on Wednesday for a follow through move. Since OCNF is a cheaper stock, it has a habit of making very fast moves. The stock has resistance at $0.49, which was the high of Monday. I expect to see the stock test resistance within the next few days.

The stock is trying to regain the ground that it lost last week but it's a difficult task. From a technical perspective, the stock has the opportunity to start new rally as %K line is back above %D line. However since RMBS overall is still weak as the MACD is still below 0 and the stock is below the 50 day MA, wait on the sideline for now before making any investment decision.

Stock picks for Friday June 11

JNPR did not make a big move today, but the chart still looks promising. On the dailly chart, RSI has climbed above 30, and the MACD histogram is threatening to cross above zero, indicating more strength to come in the stock. JNPR needs to take out $24.80, to get the ball rolling. I am buying the stock above this number and expect to see a follow through move. If buyers come into the stock, we could see it hit $27.10 very soon.

I am keeping ROYL on the list for one more week, because it is due for a big breakout move. The short-term technical indicators are improving significantly. The RSI indicator is now rising above the 50 line, MFI is increasing, and Directional Movement +D1/-D1 has given a buy signal.

FRPT faces significant resistance at $4.29, which it will have to overcome before attempting to surmount its 50-day moving average, currently at $5.07. RSI and MACD are both rising.

YGE finally broke through its resistance level of $9.50 today, and looks ready to go higher. The stock was strong all day as it closed up $1 on 2x normal daily volume. The technical daily chart shows the stock is probably back to bullish run as the stock is now trading above 20-day moving average with MACD above 0 and %K line rising on top of %D line. On the upside, the next resistance lies at $10.30 and above at $10.86.

Looking at the technical chart, CSCO has a strong support at 22.48 level closing below this level could further move down the stock to 21 levels. On the higher side, the stock could face a strong resistance at 24 levels closing above this could further move the stock to 25 & 26 levels very soon.

DRYS - There is a bullish divergence in MACD and this tells us that there is a possible rally coming up. The near-term outlook remains bearish, however a close above $4.55 would impart bullishness and would help the stock move to the 4.76-5.09 band.

The short-term outlook for WYNN remains bearish and a drop to the $73.10-74.7 range appears likely. The weak outlook would be negated on a close above $84.70. A close above this level would warrant liquidation of short positions.

I'm keeping FRPT on my list for another week. The stock closed positive, even with the market selling off hard. Monday’s high is $4.22 and I'm looking to buy the stock a few cents above that number. The technical indicator OBV still positive despite monthly drop, which means accumulation.
