Stock Market Alerts for Friday Sep 24

Elan Corporation, plc (NYSE:ELN) is setting up for a very interesting upside move. The stock hit a high of $5.26 last Tuesday, but was not able to close near this level. The past two days we have seen the stock work its way back towards Tuesday’s high.  I expect to see a high volume move once the stock breaks through resistance, as traders are watching this stock closely.  Keep the stock on your screen because once ELN breaks through resistance, the stock should take off and move quickly. From a technical standpoint, this stock is currently in an uptrend and is finding support from its 50 DMA at 4.82 . If it stays above 4.82 and moves up, then it might even go to 5.49. If the stock falls below this level, then it might see further weakness. In addition, the Chaikin Money Flow Index is showing a rising move, indicating a rising money flow into the stock. Keep ELN on your radar for Friday’s trading session.

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOMX) - $3.84 ( 50 DMA ) is a key to watch for this stock. If it declines below this level, then it has support at 3.69 and 3.35. On the upside, the stock has a number of resistances at 4.28, 4.31 ( 200 DMA ) and 4.49.

Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ:ATML) had a strong move today, as the stock set new 52-week highs.  The stock hit a high of $7.52, which is resistance for the follow through move. The technical chart shows the stock is in a bull market rally as MACD is on top of signal line and moving upwards. In addition, the medium term trend is also bullish as the stock is above 50-day and 200-day moving averages with both moving averages going up. You should watch this stock closely on Friday.

Express Scripts, Inc. (NASDAQ:ESRX) traded higher today, as the stock received an upgrade in pre-market. The stock closed up $.87 on heavy volume. I'm a buyer of ESRX once it breaks through today’s high of $49.68 for the continuation move. You need to keep the stock on your screen tomorrow, because the stock will take off very quickly.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTIC) - The stock continues to hold $.38 but trade in a narrow range.I plan to buy the stock on a close over the 50 day moving average ( currently located at $.39 )

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) - Another trading day, another 52 week high for AAPL. I like the stock as long as it can remain over $279.01.
DRYS - Dry Ships is still in bottoming mode it looks like. I plan to buy the stock when it closes back over the 50 day moving average located at $4.33.

Stocks to watch for Thursday July 22

AOB - The stock has been on a deep downtrend, falling from a high of $6.38 down to its current price of around $2.42. The technical chart indicates that stock seems to be stabilizing. The volume has been quite modest, however the stochastics are oversold which could power the rally that I think is coming. I'm a buyer of AOB once it breaks $2.49 for a possible breakout move. The stock could have good upside potential, so watch the stock closely on Thursday.

Look at MOT's wonderful chart ! The stock has been extremely Bullish over the past few days, and I believe it will keep moving up. The MACD is bullish and look for it to strengthen if the stock sees more volume. MOT has resistance at the $8-8.10 range, which is where it hit on Tuesday. I'm a buyer of MOT once it breaks through this level as we expect to see the stock test the range high of $8.67.

SOMX is trading higher after hours, after the company announced that detailed results from two Phase 3 clinical trials of the company's product Silenor-R, doxepin, have been accepted for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Both doses of Silenor achieved statistical significance for objective measures of sleep maintenance in the sleep laboratory setting, including the primary endpoint of Wake After Sleep Onset, or WASO, and for subjective measures of sleep maintenance and sleep onset in the outpatient setting. I expect the stock to gap higher on Thursday due to this good news. SOMX has been trading in a downtrend channel the past few weeks and should break any time soon. The high of this channel is $3.96, which is resistance for my buy point. I think the stock will have a lot of volume on Thursday and if it holds up, will give you many trading opportunities.

Other stocks to watch :

ROYL - The stock continues the oversold bounce which started two trading sessions ago. The stock will now be facing some resistance located between $1.97 - $2. A close above 2 would be very bullish.

HEB - The stock appears to be stabilizing and is in a mini uptrend. I am watching out for a close above 50 cents.

GNBT - Resistance is now $.36 which is the 50 day moving average. A close back above the 50 day MA would be bullish.

Stocks to watch for Tuesday July 13

SOMX looks to have found a bottom and is trying to make a move on the upside. Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals soared 10% or 0.29 cents to $3.21 per share on optimism over its recently approved insomnia drug, Silenor. Despite the weak signal from MACD as the technical indicator and signal line are below 0, the investors buy on bounce back rally as %K line has rose above %D line. Nevertheless, the medium-term trend is still weak as the stock has been trading below 50-dma and 200-dma with 50-day moving average going downward showing bearish signal. From a technical perspective, at this stage it's better to stay at the sideline and see how the stock react for the next few days as the stock has approached the pressure line of 13-day moving average.

I'm keeping MOT on my list and I expect to see a move in the stock any day now. Tech stocks had a very nice move today and we could see continuation on Tuesday. Motorola is setting up to break its 200-day moving average at $7.50. The volume has been picking up, so the move should be imminent.

OCNFD has recently hit a 52-week low and I think this is where we could expect it to take a turn and move higher. The selling frenzy has given way to light buying volume. The technical indicator MACD, while still bearish, has slowed its downside momentum which could be a prelude to a reversal in trend. In addition, the stochastics are deeply oversold which could add some strength to any gains. I'm looking to buy the stock above $0.80. If the stock picks up some volume, we could see a nice move back up to the $.85-$.90 range. Make sure to keep this stock on your radar this week.

Stock picks for Thursday May 27

Good afternoon everyone! Looks like I'm going to start the day with a technical setup on FRPT. Check it !

On the daily chart, we can see a few technical signals suggesting that a swing higher may be in the cards in the short term. First, the MACD is displaying a new bullish crossover. At the same time, we see that the daily stochastics are showing positive momentum from oversold levels, which should reinforce a move higher if near-term resistance at $4.29 is taken out. Finally, The RSI is starting to bounce back from oversold territory. The near-term upside objective is at $4.63.

Looking at the technical daily chart, the upside closing price reversal is somewhat bullish. There is possibility that rally may be coming as K line has just rose on top of D line showing buy signal. The stock needs to break out above $2.07 to go higher.

SOMX - As we can see on the daily chart, the stock has been on a short term downtrend since April. Stochastics are in oversold territory, and the stock is about to hit the major resistance line. Initial support for SOMX is at 5.65 and below there at $4.92 with resistance likely at 6.14 and 6.17. Today's close below the 10-day moving average is an indication the short-term trend remains negative.

AC Investor stock picks for Tuesday May 18

The technical chart has strong short-term resistance at $7.58. Long-term investors can hold Somaxon Pharmaceuticals with a stop at $6.48. SOMX is also a high beta stock and hence a high-risk play. Fresh exposures may be considered only on a close above $7.58. The price can then go on to $8.46.

The major resistance has been broken in this chart. The price can move up to $4.80-$4.91 in the short-term. S has been doing well recently as %K line is on top of %D line with MACD on top of signal line. Now that the stock is above this horizontal resistance line more buyers should be coming.

KWK should be bought only on a close above $13.60, as it faces strong resistance at that level.

Shares of LVLT rose 5.6% to 1.32 cents per share. The technical chart above shows the stock is weak with MACD below 0. However as the stock has bounced off from support at $1.22 cents and %K line has just crossed on top of %D line the stock has the chance to start a new rally.

Stock Market Alerts for Thursday April 22

The stock is trying to bounce off recent lows. SOMX has closed positive on Tuesday, but has not been able to break through its channel on today's session. If the stock does break through this level on massive volume, we should see a short-term bounce. SOMX is a volatile stock, so watch it very closely.

ROYL has appeared recently on my blog for a potential move higher. Looking at thechnical chart, you can see for yourself that the recent gains have come on relatively strong volume. Other factors that are in favor of a move higher is the technical indicator On Balance Volume ( OBV ) and the the Relative Strength Index (RSI) . In addition, the stock is trading above both 50 day and 200 day moving average and MACD is above 0 showing positive momentum. Resistance for Thursday’s move is $2.49, which reflects Wednesday’s high of the day. If ROYL can break through resistance, we will have a two-bar reversal, which is very bullish for an upside move. Keep a close eye on ROYL for Thursday.

The $1.77 area has been proved to be a strong resistance. More times the resistance has been tested, there is good chance for breaking above that point. Honestly speaking, I feel that there is a possibility for LVLT to go beyond $1.77.

Despite the general market's weakness, GIGM made an impressive turnaround and rallied almost 1.7% to close the day at $3.08. The next visible resistance is at $3.15-3.16 area. Today's spike could bring MACD above 0, generally a bullish sign. In addition, KD line seems to be crossing up indicating bullish swing.

Penny stock to watch :

NVLT - The chart of NVLT is declining on low volume and is in close proximity to a strong support level $0.20. In my opinion unless we see a very strong jump in volume then price does not have the momentum to break through this important level, therefore I believe that we will see a bounce here in a couple of days.
