Hot stocks for Tuesday - Ariad Pharmaceuticals and The New York Times Company
( click to enlarge )NYT - New York Times shares surged today more than 7% amid speculation that Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim was considering buying the influential media company and taking it private. The stock ended the day up $11.75 on heavy volume. NYT broke resistance and looks it wants to go much higher from here. I like the chart formation for NYT and I'm looking for a follow through move on Tuesday. Resistance reflects Monday’s high of $12.17 for the next move. The technical daily chart shows new rally has begun as %K line has crossed on top of %D line. Technically speaking the stock is painting now a “Bullish” picture.
( click to enlarge )ARIA broke through one major resistance level located at $2.68 with heavy volume. It appears it will now be testing the $2.90-$2.94 price levels next for resistance. The technical chart shows very strong upward momentum as ARIA is trading above the 200 day moving average with both 50 day and 200 day moving average going up. At this point, I'm buyer only once it breaks through Monday’s high of $2.77 for the continuation move. The stock has a lot of upside room, so continue to watch the stock on Tuesday.
