Shares of Alcoa Inc. fell sharply Tuesday as investors reacted swiftly to the giant aluminum producer's unexpectedly weak fourth-quarter earnings.
Alcoa's net earnings for the three months ended Dec. 31, released after the closing bell Monday, came in at 26 cents a share, down from 30 cents in the year-ago period.
