Watchlist for Thursday, September 6

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) had been confined within a very tight trading range until today as price broke and closed above the range resistance at 4.93 as seen in the daily chart. Now the stock is focused on the next resistance pivot at 5.24.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) needs to break the resistance lines around 9.80 to 9.90 to head back to higher levels.  The short-term trend is bullish targeting 9.78 as far as areas of 9.25 remain intact.

InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDCC) remains trapped within moving averages without showing any big move since the opening of this week. Only a close below 33.04 or above 33.88 can change the neutral stance. Although the technical indicator MACD remains contained by a consolidation, On Balance Volume continues to show strong accumulation. Rumors of a possible takeover have recently surfaced and over 14% of the tradeable stock is in the hands of short sellers. Still on my top list.

Shares of VirnetX Holding Corporation (NYSEAMEX:VHC) broke the 200-day moving average on big volume, which technically is usually a good sign. The short term trend is to the upside targeting 30

News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) Potential breakout. Long over 24.05

PulteGroup, Inc.(NYSE:PHM) is a stock I've covered before at much lower prices. It has been consolidating until today when it broke out to the upside. I think this opens up the door for further gains. The $13.91 level now acts as support.

Five nice setups to watch next week

FormFactor, Inc. (NASDAQ:FORM) on the way to test the $7 level again. The technical chart above shows that although the decline looks impressive in the short-term, it's still within a rising channel that started in December 2011. With the stock again above the 50-day moving average and stochastic moving up, it looks like the stock is heading for the top of the channel again ! If you are bullish on the stock now is a nice time to buy and aim for the most recent high. If the stock does continue the bullish trend stay above 5.8, the next important resistance is 7, this should be the max target for the short-term though a break above does open up more room to the upside. Additionally, the accumulation indicator shows the strength of conviction behind this Bullish trend. Lets keep an eye on it.

Shares of News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) today broke out of a bullish consolidation pattern that has been a pause in its steep more than 30% up move in June. Look for follow-through on Monday with increasing volume to confirm today's move.

Tellabs, Inc.(NASDAQ:TLAB) was one of the big winners on Friday, as the stock traded up on their earnings. At its daily high, the stock touched the 50-day moving average but it did not surpass the resistance level. A close above this level is likely to take TLAB to higher levels with the stock expected to test the intermediate high of 3.8 recorded in May.

Nice breakout on OCZ Technology Group Inc. (NASDAQ:OCZ) with strong volume. Momentum picking up with MACD climbing and RSI rising. Look for a quick run to $8 then on to $8.46

Manitowoc Company, Inc. (NYSE:MTW) Solid breakout on strong volume. If the stock can break Friday’s high of $12.36, we should see a strong follow through move. MTW will move very quickly, so keep a very close eye on the stock next week.

Stock Watch List for Friday May 11, 2012

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) On watchlist no trigger yet. The stock has consolidated the past two weeks. If DAL can break through $11.34, the stock should make a strong upside move. On the other hand, if the stock does not break resistance, be very careful and use your stops for the downside. Shareholders may remain invested with a stop-loss at $10.14

News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) has a Bullish looking stock chart, the stock price broke out from the horizontal resistance mark around $20.4/share Thursday on heavy volume. The stock made a new 52-week high today, but was not able to close near this high. However, I'm buyer of NWSA once it breaks Thursday’s high for the follow through move. Long-term investors may hold with a stop at 18.65.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) - The company is falling in the after-hours session after said its chief investment office had significant mark to market losses and that legal losses of $4.2 billion are reasonably possible. In addition, Standard & Poor's downgraded the banking giant as residential mortgage specialist to "average" from "above average". Short term support for the stock is in the 37 to 38.12 region.

Career Education Corp. (NASDAQ:CECO) The stock closed slightly up on Thursday and should continue higher on Friday. The company reported earnings after the close and the market loved what they saw. CECO is trading up after hours and I expect it to gap open on Friday. I'm using the 50 dma at 7.62 as next resistance level.

Shares of Ciena Corporation (NASDAQ:CIEN) are in a bearish trading condition. The fall in the stock has been extended by the violation of the support line at $13.4 and as long as the stock trades below this line stay bearish, this bearish trading condition will prevail. Fresh investments in CIEN are recommended only on a daily close above this level.
