Stocks to Watch for April 17, 2013

Exelixis, Inc. (NASDAQ:EXEL) is back above its simple 200EMA but still has resistance at the $5.04 level. Technicals are turning positive so I would watch for the breakout and target a move toward $5.39. Stop loss under the 50EMA.

I think Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has found a nice bottom here and the stock looks poised to post a rally from current levels. The Slow Stochastic just produced a new buy signal. I would watch for a breakout over the $14.27-14.4 region.

Tripadvisor Inc (NASDAQ:TRIP) Good long setup, if it takes out the 54.14 level on volume.

Procera Networks Inc (NASDAQ:PKT) Watch this flag, any break on volume can be played accordingly. Short-term technical oscillators are turning bullish.

Shares of VIVUS, Inc. (NASDAQ:VVUS) surged 5.56% or 62 cents to $11.78 per share after the company announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved its amendment and modification to the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy for Qsymia® (phentermine and topiramate extended-release) capsules CIV. This stock has a short interest ratio of 17.4 based on average daily volume of 1,514,478 shares and 26,360,430 million shares short. I guess this announcement will force these short traders to cover their positions, and we may see a nice squeeze play out. If the stock can break through $12.35 tomorrow, we should see strong volume drive the stock higher.

Looks like consolidation is near the end for Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) and I believe a breakout (up/down) is imminent.
